I love Bones. I love it! I mean, I don’t lovelove it, and I’m certainly not going to exhort my readers to watch it, but…I love it. In part, it’s true, I love it because it’s an hour-long show that solves every mystery within that hour; it helped me be more desensitized violence-wise for a project at my job; it does not take much concentration or emotional investment.

I just watched Smash and the “karaoke bar” where whatsherface sings “Red Neck Woman” is IN FACT Hill Country on 26th Street where I sang live band karaoke for the first and probably only ever time. My review of Joyful Noise, via an email to Elena
I enjoyed it the longer it was since I’d seen it. Dolly’s new songs are totally great. Kris Kristofferson does his thing, which is very minimal at this point. Jesse L Martin is in it, but doesn’t sing (?). It’s not as good as Sister Act 2 but what is. Basically, I cannot give you advice one way or the other, but I definitely enjoyed watching it. It’s weird.

Someone recently gave me a free subscription to The New Yorker, and so I have been getting it, and sometimes reading it. My new favorite thing about it is the way they transcribe gchat conversations: “I’m just like LOL / Maybe I’m still a little buzzed.” Way to use the small caps, way to pretend it’s poetry, way to go.
